A. C. ROREBECK DIES IN FLORIDA
A. C. Rorebeck, the father of Second Vice President Edward F. Rorebeck of the Metropolitan Trust Company, is dead at his son’s fruit farm, Fort Myers, Florida. Mr. Rorebeck was at the bedside of his father during his illness.
Mr. Rorebeck was a veteran of the Civil War and was Secretary to General Phil Sheridan. Since the death of General Sheridan, Mr. Rorebeck had been connected with the War Department and had done much valuable work on General Sheridan’s memoirs.
Another son of Mr. Rorebeck is a Captain of Artillery in the United States Army.
The body will be brought to Washington and buried in Arlington.
NOTE: His son, Curtis Gantt Rorbeck, Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army, and his wife, Ruth, are buried in this site in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
