Ames T. Brown (1890-1961)
Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 3, 1890.
Commissioned in the Infantry, New York National Guard in 1915. Served with the 106th Infantry at Ypres-Lis and Somme engagements in 1918. Discharged in 1919 then commissioned in the New York National Guard again in 1924.
Brigadier General in February 1940 as Adjutant General of New York. Director of Selective Service, New York October 1940-September 1947.
Retired in November 1950. Decorations included the Distinguished Service Medal, Silver Star, Commendation Ribbon and Purple Heart.
Died on May 19, 1961.
