Albert Parker Carden was born on July 24, 1943 and joined the Armed Forces while in Morgantown, West Virginia.
He served in the United States Army, and attained the rank of Captain. He began a tour of duty in the Republic of Vietnam on June 10, 1971.
On June 25, 1971, at the age of 27, Captain Carden perished in the service of our country in South Vietnam, Quang Tri.
Captain Carden was buried with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery.
The Army officer referenced above, known as “Pat” was my next door neighbor and friend when we were both stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in 1968-9. While serving as a helicopter pilot in Viet-Nam he was killed on 25 June 1971 in Quang Tri Province. Later that summer I attended his funeral at the Fort Myer Chapel and burial at Arlington National Cemetary. Tom Gathings.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
