CAPTAIN EUGENE J. GROW
Former Head of the Naval Medical Supply Depot in Brooklyn
WASHINGTON, September 7, 1935 – Funeral services for Captain Eugene J. Grow, U.S.N., who died at Lebanon, New Hampshire, on Thursday, will be held at the Arlington National Cemetery Monday afternoon, the Navy Department announced today. He was 61 years old.
Prior to his retirement last May, Captain Grow was in command of the Naval Medical Supply Depot in Brooklyn, New York.
He served his entire career in the Medical Service of the Navy, which he entered as an Assistant Surgeon in 1898, following his graduation from Dartmouth in 1897.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
