Prieto was born April 23, 1971, in El Paso, Texas, and was the son of Phil and Jan Prieto and Robert and Sandra Sisk. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1994, where he was an All-American in both boxing and fencing and was later inducted into the Naval Academy Athletic Hall of Fame.
After Annapolis, he served his country faithfully as an F-14 Tomcat RIO for 10 years. Commander Prieto was awarded both the bronze star and air medal for his actions over Afghanistan.
Celebrating his life and many happy memories is his wife of eight years, Theresa; their three children, Kaley, Skyler and Brody Preston; along with his parents; two sisters, Sara and Becky; and two brothers, Bryan and Bradley.
A service of remembrance will be conducted at 5 p.m. Monday, September 19, at Charity United Methodist Church, 4080 Charity Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23457.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery at 3 p.m. December 5, 2005.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
