Age 56, of Atlanta and Birmingham, Alabama, died on Sunday, February 1, 1998 in Atlanta. He was a Medical Sales Executive and President of Hornak and Associates.
He graduated from Marquette University, where he played basketball for the Warriors, and was also on the golf team. As an outstanding senior student athlete, he was awarded the Robert McCahill Award.
He was a former Airborne Ranger (First Lieutenant, U.S. Army), and served in Vietnam (1966) with the 25th Infantry Division where he was wounded in Pleiku. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other honors. He was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina.
He was the son of the late Dr. Andrew John Hornak and Kathryn Powers Hornak.
Born on August 14, 1941 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Clare Cade Hornak; his daughter, Emily Clare Ingram Hornak, of Birmingham; his son, Robert Charles Cade (Margaret Bentley) Hornak, and twin grandsons Cade Andrew Hornak and Davis Powell Hornak, all of Alexandria, VA; sister Sue (Stewart) Hanrahan, of Madison, WI; brother John James (Mary Pat) Hornak, of Wauwatosa, WI; sister-in-law Barbara Cade (Harold) Hunt, of Birmingham, AL; brother-in-law C.D. (Jacqueline) Cade, of Tennessee; 2 aunts, Fran (George) Dooley and Ann Hornak, of Wauwatosa, WI; 17 nieces and nephews and 28 great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 7 at 12 noon in the Cathedral of St. Philip on Peachtree Road in Atlanta. The family will receive friends Fri. evening from 4-6 PM at Arlington Chapel and again one hour prior to the Service at the church. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.
Memorial service will be held later in Milwaukee.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
