Sgt. Robert “Bobby” J. Deal, 24, a resident of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and formerly of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland, died of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on February 29, 2004, in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
The son of Patricia Ann Deal of West River and Charles F. Deal of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Sergeant Deal was born May 14, 1979, in Cheverly and graduated from Northern High School in 1997.
Sergeant Deal served in the Army since 1999 and received his basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. He was later deployed to Korea and Afghanistan before returning to Fort Bragg in Fayetteville.
He enjoyed crabbing in the Chesapeake Bay and maintaining his automobile.
In addition to his parents, surviving are his daughter, Hannah Elizabeth Deal of Harrisonburg, Virginia.; his step-mother, Teressa Deal of Murrells Inlet; his step-father, Larry Rupp Sr. of West River; his sister, Sharon Brown of Apex, North Carolina; and his grandparents, Milton and Shirley Hunter of Mount Airy and Pauline and Sandy Sanders of Stevensville.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mount Harmony Lane in Owings, where funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
