From a contemporary press report:
John Sheridan Biays, in his 86th year, died at home in Delray Beach, Florida, June 29, 1994.
A native of Maryland, he was a direct descendant of John Hanson, elected first President of the United States in Congress assembled under Articles of Confederation, and was an official of Bankers Trust Company, New York City, prior to his retirement in 1969, when he and his family moved to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. He resided there for 18 years before moving to Delray Beach.
Biays served in US Army in WWII and discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
His clubs included Squadron A Association, New York City; Apawamis, Rye, New York; and Seagate Beach Club, Delray, Florida.
He is survived by wife, the former Virginia Longshaw; a son, John S. Biays, Jr., of Boca Raton, Florida; dau, Mrs Michael E. Cushmore, Edna, Minnesota; and a grandson, Christopher Biays Cushmore.
Graveside services will he held at Arlington National Cemetery July 7, 1994. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions to one’s favorite charity.
December 6, 1907-June 29, 1994. Buried In Section 46, Grave 414. His wife, Virginia Langshaw Biyas (21 April 1914-31 July 2002) is buried with him.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
