Colonel James T. Wortham, 76, died Jan. 17, 1997 at the Jewish Hospital, Louisville, Kentucky.
Colonel Wortham served for more than 34 years. His military career began in 1942. He served with the 8th Air Force in England during World War II. He participated in other combat duty, which included service with the 2d Infantry Division in Korea in 1951, where he was an Artillery Battery Commander at Heart Break Ridge. His military career also included tours in Oklahoma, Texas, Washington, D.C., Korea, Germany and Italy.
He was a graduate of the Command and General Staff College and Army War College.
His honors and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; two sons, James Jr. and Dale, and three grandchildren.
Burial was held January 24, 1997 at the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, with full military honors.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
