Frank Clark Scofield, the son of John Cowles Scofield, Chief Clerk of the War Department, was born in Washington, D.C. on 22 June 1892. He was appointed at large to the United States Military Academy and graduated in the Class of 1916. He served as Assistant Quartermaster at West Point, 1921-22, was Chief of Staff at the Panama Canal Zone and in the Coast Artillery Corps Command in 1942. He retired in 1947 as a Colonel and resided in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
