Keith Michael Witt, 56, a Sergeant Major who retired in 1993 from the Army Personnel Command in Alexandria, died September 25, 2001, at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Virginia. He had multiple sclerosis.
He was a native of San Diego and a resident of Springfield. He graduated from the Army Sergeant Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas. His 30-year career, largely in personnel work, included tours in Vietnam, France, Belgium and Italy.
He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Kathryn A. Witt of Springfield; two children, Lloyd R. Witt of Steamwood, Ill., and Elizabeth A. Witt-Lee of Manassas; a sister; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services at Old Chapel, Ft. Myer, Virginia at 1 p.m. with burial in Arlington National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Paralyzed Veterans of America or the MS Society.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
