Command Sergeant Major Lawrence Frederick Shine, Ret. , 76, of 824 Appleseed Court, Winchester, Virginia, died Thursday, August 26, 1999, in Winchester Medical Center.
Sergeant Major Shine was born January 21, 1923, in Winchester, the son of John and Ruth Richards Shine. He retired in 1972 as a communications officer with the Army. He served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.
He married Wilma Stuckler on July 9, 1969, in Vienna, Austria.
Surviving with his wife, are two sisters, Colleen Dill and Virginia Shine, both of Winchester.
A graveside service will be 3 p.m. September 7 in Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
