Stone Mountain, Georgia –Thomas B. Sealey, 77, formerly of Shelby, North Carolina, died on Monday, April 30, 2001.
He was a son of the late William Thomas and Madge DeVine Sealey.
He retired from the Marine Corps, and he had served as guard to the President. He fought in World War II, Korea and Vietnam, including the battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Peleiu, Okinawa, Inchon Landing and Chosin Reservoir, earning five Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and other medals.
He is survived by his wife, Margena O’Daniel Sealey; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Thelma Sealey, Andy and Sally Sealey and Juel and Juanita Sealey; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Philomena Sealey and S. Steven Moss, Kim Sealey, Gizelle Sealey and Michael W. Greene of Shelby, Katrina Sealey, Tammy Sealey and Gina Sealey and Rob Schrage; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas B. II and Robin Sealey and Robert R. and Malena Sealey; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery Tuesday at 11 a.m. The service will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps with full military honors.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
