Minot B. Dodson, 85, a retired Army Coast Artillery Colonel who later worked for the Pinkerton Security and Investigation Services in California before retiring from that company as an executive vice president in 1999, died of melanoma August 21, 2000, at his home in Yorba Linda, California.
Colonel Dodson, who fought in the Aleutians during World War II, also was a combat veteran of the Korean conflict. He held Army posts dealing with missiles and surveillance and reconnaissance projects before retiring from active duty in 1966. He then entered the private security business.

On August 21, 2000, of Yorba Linda, CA, formerly of Mount Vernon, VA, husband of Carol Rich Dodson; father of Jonathan Boyd Dodson, Jeannie Elizabeth Dodson-Edgars and Jennifer Louise Besen. He is also survived by a sister, Murrell Inez Everhart of Eldon, MO, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous step-children and step-grandchildren. Funeral service, Wednesday, September 6, 11 a.m. at Ft. Myer Chapel. Interment to follow at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Colonel Minot Dodson Memorial Fund in care of the VFW in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
