Son of Brigadier General Served as Artillery Captain In War
SEWICKLEY, Pennsylvania, January 13, 1937 – George Faber Downey, son of the late Brigadier General George F. Downey, U.S.A., died today in the Sewickley Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Downey served as a Captain with the Twelfth Field Artillery, Second Division, during the World War. He was graduated from Yale University in 1918.
Surviving are his widow, Kathleen Van Inges Downey, and two daughters, Patsy and Joan Downey; his mother, Mrs. Mattie Davis Downey of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Fairfax Downey and an uncle, Thomas Beale Davis, head of the Island Coal Company of New York.
Services will be held here tomorrow afternoon. Burial will take place at noon Friday in Arlington National Cemetery.
His grandfather, George Mason Downey, Major, United States Army, is buried in an adjacent site in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
