She died on March 29, 1998, at the age of 78. She truly was a loved and cherished wife, mother and grandmother.
Born VIRGINIA McLAURINE OGSTON, she was the daughter of Alfred J. Ogston and Lucy Virginia Ogston, later Mrs. Isaac S.K. Reeves. She was also the great-niece of Colonel John Singleton Mosby of the Army of the Confederate States of America.
She was born in Washington, DC on December 29, 1919. She graduated from Immaculata Seminary and, after attending design school in New York City, she returned to Washington where she worked as a graphic illustrator for the Government.
She proudly served with the United States Marine Corps during World War II.
She later met and married her husband, the late Lee O’Carmody Jones, LTJG, US Navy (Ret.). They made their home in Charlottesville, VA.
She is survived by their three children, Timothy McLaurine Jones, Lucy Virginia Blakley Jones and Margaret Mosby Jones, and two granddaughters, Lee O’Carmody Jones and Elizabeth Haley Ridisill, all of Charlottesville.
Mass and burial services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, April 6, 1998 at 8:45 a.m.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
