Daniel R. Chrismer, 62, died last Monday (December 20, 2004) at his home.
He was born July 4, 1942, in Gettysburg, Pensylvania, the son of Helen Groft of McSherrystown, Pennsylvania, and the late Francis Chrismer.
He was a Christian. He was a retired electrical engineer and an avid pilot. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a member of the VFW and the Catholic War Veterans Club of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Thomas Chrismer and William Chrismer; and one sister, Frances Chrismer.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sons, Daniel R. Chrismer II and his wife, Vicki Chrismer, of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and David T. Chrismer and his wife, Tracy Chrismer, of Palmyra; two daughters, Mary Townsend and her husband, William B. Townsend, of Waynesboro, and Jeannie Kilgore and her husband, Kevin Michael Kilgore, of Hanover; one brother, Timothy Chrismer of McSherrystown, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Cecilia Bushman of Hagerstown, Maryland, and Dorothy Strasbaugh of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania; and 10 grandchildren, Brittany Chrismer, Sydney Chrismer, Bryan Utz, Thomas Anderson, Candace Anderson, Kristina Kilgore, Shelby Kilgore, Ashley Chrismer, Kayla Chrismer and Torrey Chrismer.
A memorial service will be held at the Waynesboro chapel of Reynolds Funeral Service at 2 p.m. today with Rev. Paul LaPrevotte officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Columbarium at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
