Colonel (retired) Don Pittman died of a massive heart attack just before midnight, Tuesday, 15 May 2001, in Oklahoma City. Don was there on a business trip. He and co-workers went to see an evening baseball game. Don suffered the heart attack just as they were entering the stadium. Emergency medical services were on the scene very quickly and he was taken to the emergency room of a nearby hospital. Don passed on around 11:30PM.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
