ENSIGN DROWNED IN CUBA
Fell Overboard from Motor Boat of the Cruiser Richmond
WASHINGTON, February 11, 1925 – Ensign Elbert Alonzo Palmer, Jr., a member of the graduating class at the United States Naval Academy last June, was drowned off Cuba on February 6. His body was found last night and was sent from Cuba to this city, where it will be buried in Arlington Cemetery.
The Ensign, who was only 22 years old, fell overboard from a motor boat of the cruiser Richmond.
The Ensign was a graduate of the Saratoga Springs High School. He is survived by his mother, his father, Major Elbert A. Palmer, stationed in the Philippines, a sister, Mrs. Albert F. Hilix, formerly of this city, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Palmer of Coeymans, New York. Mrs. Palmer is now in Washington awaiting the arrival of the body.
