Nicholas Budesky – Command Sergeant Major, United States Army

CSM Budesky, 78, died July 6, 1997 in Peabody, Massachusetts, due to a long illness.

CSM Budesky was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He also served with the Navy during World War II on the Flagship USS Rocky Mount that liberated Kwajalein, Marshall, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, Leyte and the Philippine Islands. Budesky’s assignments included Rerserve Officers’ Training Corps instructor, Worcester  Polytechnic Institute, Military Science Department; and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on “MoLink” and the Washington-Moscow Hotline, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. He served 27 years in the Army.

His awards and decorations include the National Service Defense Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Korean Service Medal,
Philippine Liberation Medal, American Theater Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Medal for Humane Action.

He is survived by wife, Elfriede; one son, Nicholas; one daughter, Deborah; and three grandchildren.

Burial was held July 9 at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, with full military honors.

Michael Robert Patterson

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
