COLONEL NORMAN G. BURTON
Retired Officer of Marine Corps Dies After Operation
PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania, January 27, 1931 – Colonel Norman G. Burton, retired, who served in the Marine Corps for twenty-nine years, died in the Naval Hospital here today of a heart attack after undergoing a minor operation. He was 58.
A native of Massachusetts, Colonel Burton was appointed to the Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant in 1899, serving in the Philippine Islands, in the Legation Guard at Peking, China, and at several posts in this country. He was Executive Officer of the Marine Quartermaster Depot in this city from August 1925 until July 1928, the date of his retirement.
Burial will take place on Thursday in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
