CHANDLER, ELI “Hap” (Age 83)
Eli C. “Hap” Chandler, age 83, of Austin, Texas passed away Friday, September 19, 2003.
Hap was born May 24, 1920 in Frame, West Virginia.
He served in the US Army Corps of Engineers in World War II and Korea and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel.
After his military career, he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration at the University of Arizona and worked as a purchasing manager at American Chemical Society in Washington, D.C.
Hap was preceded in death by his wife Anne. He is survived by his children, Barton Chandler and Annette Ornburg; two grandsons, Todd and Robert Ornburg; and one great-grandson, Gunner Ornburg.
A service will be held at the Fort Myer Chapel at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, October 30. A graveside service with Military Honors will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
