MORING, WILLIAM E. “ED”, (USN Ret.)
William E. “Ed” Moring, United States Navy (retired) died on December 29, 2001 in Santa Cruz, California. He was born in 1908 in Coffeyville, Mississippi, and graduated in 1931 from the United States Naval Academy.
He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a Supply Officer, first on the USS Cowpens and then the USS Yorktown. Other duty stations included Groton, Connecticut; Mare Island, California; Yokosuka, Japan and Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.
He retired with the rank of Captain in 1958 to work for Lockheed until his retirement in 1972.
He is predeceased by his wife, Claire Coulson Moring, and survived by his daughter, Sharon Moring Hada of Santa Cruz, California; his son, William Coulson Moring of Scottsdale Arizona; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, January 9, 10 a.m., at Arlington National Cemetery.
