William Harry Ryerson, 80, of Appling, South Carolina, died Friday, December 31, 1999, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2000, in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
Ryerson, a native of Patterson, New Jersey, had retired from the Army as a Captain. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star medals and was a member of American Legion Post 192, Evans. He had been coordinator of security for Ronetco Inc., Ledgewood, New Jersey.
Survivors include his wife, Ilse Ryerson, Aiken; two daughters, Karen Slauson, Aiken, and Liana Chirichella, Boonton Township, New Jersey; a sister Carol Asbaty, Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey; and two grandchildren.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
