Herbert C. Kamien died on 7 July 2004 after a long illness.
Corporal Kamien was a retired New York State Court of Claims employee. Previously he was the owner of Kamien’s Tavern on Lincoln Road in Brooklyn, New York.
Corporal Kamien was a decorated World War II veteran who saw extensive combat in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland campaigns in company L, 120th infantry, 30th Division.
He was awarded the Bronze Star with Valor and the Purple Heart with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster.
He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Corporal Kamien is preceded in death by his parents Max and Madeline Kamien, half brothers Max and Walter and his brother Harold. Survivors include his brother Raymond, sister-in-law Claire, nephews Douglas, Kirk, Eric, Mark, Scott and Walt; grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
NOTE: His brother, Raymond H. Kamien, Corporal, United States Army, died in June 2008 and is also buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
