Born at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, June 22, 1876, he earned the Medal of Honor while serving at Peking, China, during the Boxer Rebellion, on June 10-July 16, 1900.
He died on April 3, 1941 and was buried in Section 17 of Arlington National Cemetery.
