Commodore Hogg and his wife, Clara W. Heyl Hogg, are buried in Section 1 of Arlington National Cemetery. If you have information concerning these persons, please contact the Webmaster.
The only information I have found on William Stetson Hogg is that he was a Commodore and commander of the stores ship Glacier in 1908. The Glacier was part of the Great White Fleet.
I found this information looking for information on William Stetson Hogg Jr. who was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy in 1915 by President Woodrow Wilson. I have the commission.
My Grandmother was a friend of the Hogg family while working at Camp Pendelton Navy Hospital as a nurse in the 1960s. Mr. Hogg, (I did not know his rank at that time) had passed away at the hospital and my Grandmother and Ms. May Hogg, his wife, became good friends. Mr. and Ms. Hogg lived on a large estate near Carlsbad, California where my Grandmother lived.
After my Grandmother passed away, I found the commission among her personal belongings. The Hogg’s had no children to the best of my knowledge. His family was related to Stephen Hogg, Governor of Texas. Perhaps you could find information on Commodore Hogg through these links. I hope it helps.
