Born at Louisville, Ohio, February 19, 1889, he earned the Medal of Honor for service at Vera Cruz, Mexico, on April 21, 1914. The Medal was issued to him on June 15, 1914.
He died on March 5, 1958 and was buried in Section 17 of Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
