December 2002:
Dear sir:
I do not know the soldier in this grave, but I do know that he was not a member of the Royal Netherlands Army (Koningklijke Landmacht).
The stone says ‘2e LNT. MARS. KMR’ which means that the man was a Officer in the Marine Corps (Korps Mariniers).
2e LNT = 2e luitenant = Second Lieutenant
MARS = (der) MARINIERS = (of the) MARINES
KMR = Korps Mariniers = Marine Corps
I’m not sure about the KMR part, maybe it means Korps Mariniers = Marine Corps or Koningklijke Marine = Royal Netherlands Navy. In the Dutch armed forces the Marine Corps is part of the Royal Netherlands Navy.
If you did not yet have this information, I hope it is of some help to you.
Sincerely yours, Herman G. Aaftink
