Jesse Lee Morrow, Jr. – Colonel, United States Army

Jesse L. Morrow Jr., 82, an Army Infantry Colonel who retired in 1972 as an Executive Training Officer of the Continental Army Command at Fort Monroe, Virginia, died of cancer November 8, 2000, at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. He lived in Oakton, Virginia.

Colonel Morrow participated in the Normandy invasion of France during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for action during the Battle of the Bulge.

His other honors included three Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and two Legions of Merit.

After the war, he served in Germany and was later posted to Taiwan and Korea. He commanded the 2nd Brigade in Baumholder, Germany, later in his career and was the Army inspector general in Frankfurt, Germany. He had also served as director of
Rangers at Fort Benning, Georgia.

After he retired, he was an agent for the Long & Foster realty office in Vienna.

Colonel Morrow was born in Del Rio, Tennessee. He attended Appalachian State University and received a law degree from Portland University.

He was a trustee of Oakton United Methodist Church and a member of the board there of Wesley Housing. He was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels in Fairfax.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Dorothy B. Morrow of Oakton; and a son, Bob Morrow of Fairfax.
