John Fuller Davis (1892-1978)
Born on May 2, 1892 in Augusta, Georgia.
Commissioned in the Cavalry from West Point in 1915. Served in the AEF 1917-1919. Graduated from the Command and General Staff School in 1926 and the Army War College in 1931.
Chief of Staff of 6th Service Command 1942-1944. Brigadier General in November 1943. Deputy Director of the Information and Education Division of the War Department August 1944-November 1945.
Reverted to Colonel in February 1946. Decorations included two Legions of Merit.
Died on July 17, 1978.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
