He was born in New York on 26 October 1914 and died in an automobile accident in Wyoming on 17 September 1941 at age 26. He was a First Lieuenant at the time of his death. He was buried with military honors in Arlington National Cemetery. His father, Gregory Hoisington, Colonel, United States Army, his brother, Perry M. Hoisington, Major General, United States Air Force, and his sister, Elizabeth P. Hoisington, Brigadier General, United States Army, are all buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
