Washington, D. C. November 8, 1945 – Miss Christina Livingston Macomb, a member of one of Washington’s oldest families, died in her home here early today at the age of 84.
A resident of Washington for more than sixty years, Miss Macomb was a daughter of the late Colonel and Mrs. John Navarre Macomb and a granddaughter of Commodore John Rodgers who was prominent in the War of 1812.
Miss Macomb was a member for many years of St. John’s Episcopal Chruch, across Jackson Square from the White House, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery.
Surviving Miss Macomb is a sister, Miss Nannie R. Macomb. Two brothers, Brigadier General Montgomery Meigs Macomb and Colonel Augustus C. Macomb, died serveral years ago.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
