Bass, Ivan Ernest (1877-1967)
Born on July 29, 1877 in Carley, Mississippi. Graduated from Annapolis in 1901 and commissioned in 1903.
Engineering Officer at Boston Navy Yard in World War I. Rear Admiral in March 1934. Naval Inspector of Machinery at Newport News Shipbuilding Company 1934-1939. Member of U.S. Navy Compensation Board 1939-1941. Retired in August 1941. Recalled to active duty in January 1942. Member of the Compensation Board 1942-1944 and the Contract Settlement Review Board 1944-1947. Retired again in December 1947.
Died on November 1, 1967.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
