Born at Quebec, Canada, June 10, 1878, he earned the Medal of Honor while serving aboard the USS Marblehead at Cienfuegos, Cuba, May 11, 1898 during the Spanish-American War.
He died on December 1, 1956 and was buried in Section 31 of Arlington National Cemetery.
