MAJOR WILLIAM B. DUTY
MANILA, August 23, 1933 – William B. Duty, 33 years old, commander of the United States Army’s Philippines Air Depot, died today of blood poisoning. He was a native of Sackets Harbor, New York.
After being commissioned he was assigned to the Philippine Scouts in 1913 and later was graduated from various Army flying schools. At one time he was on duty in Japan. He widow and two children survive.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
