John Hazard Carson (1896-1976)
Born on April 13, 1896 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Commissioned from Annapolis in 1916. Served with the Atlantic Fleet in World War I.
M.S. from MIT in 1924. Commanding Officer of the Dewey 1936-1937. Duty at the Navy Proving Ground, Dahlgren, Virginia 1937-1940. Executive Officer of the New Mexico 1940-1941.
Operations Officer on the staff of the Commander of Cruisers in the Battle Force, then Southwest Pacific Forces 1941-1943. Commanding Officer of the Boston 1943-1944. Rear Admiral in March 1944. Commander of U.S. Naval Torpedo Station, Newport 1944-1946. Retired as Vice Admiral in April 1958.
Decorations included two Bronze Stars and the Navy Commendation Medal. Died on February 2, 1976+

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
