Board of Supervisors, 1968-1969; elected to four terms as Supervisor, Town of Huntington, N.Y., 1968-1974; chairman, Huntington Urban Renewal Agency and president, Freeholders and Commonalty of the Town of Huntington, 1968-1974; elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-fourth, Ninety-fifth and Ninety-sixth Congresses (January 3, 1975-January 3, 1981); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1980 to the Ninety-seventh Congress; governmental and legislative consultant, 1981 to present; He died at Alexandria, Virginia, on March 4, 1993 and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
