PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania, July 16, 1939 – Major Francis J. Fitzpatrick, 55, United States Army Engineer, was killed last night and his civilian chauffeur critically injured when their automobile collided with another car near Bakerstown, north of here.
Major Fitzpatrick was en route to Tionesta, Pennsylvania, on a flood-control dam survey.
He will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
