AVIATOR KILLED
SAN ANTONIO, Texas, August 1, 1922 – Lieutenant Samuel L. Lunt, Kelly Field aviator, met almost instant death today when his plane crashed. He was attempting to land and was only about 150 feet from the ground when the machine seemed to pass out of control.
He is survived by a widow here and his mother, Mrs. Carline E. Lunt of Alexandria, Virginia. The body will be sent to Washington for burial in Arlington Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army.
