A son of James Placidus Ord, and a nephew of E.O.C. Ord, he was born in 1848 and died in 1912.
He is buried with many other family members in Section 2 of Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
