Frederick Harry Black – Brigadier General, United States Army

Frederick Harry Black (1894-1986).

Born in Meadville, Missouri on April 17, 1894

Commissioned in the Field Artillery in 1917. Instructor at the School of Fire 1918-1920 and the Field Artillery School 1932-1936. Graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1939. Instructor with the New York National Guard 1939-1941.

In the Supply Division at the War Department General Staff 1941-1942. Commander of 26th Infantry Division Artillery 1942-1943, then 99th Infantry Division Artillery 1943-1945. Brigadier General in September 1944.

Commanding General of Infantry Replacement Training Center at Camp Blanding November 1945-February 1946.
Reverted to Colonel in February 1946. Retired in June 1950. Decorations included the Silver Star, Legion of Merit and two Bronze Stars. Died on July 2, 1986.

Michael Robert Patterson
