Nola G. Forrest – Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army

Nola G. Forrest, 99, a retired lieutenant colonel who served for 22 years in the Army Nurse Corps, died of congestive heart failure July 30, 1999 at her home in Washington.

During World War II, Colonel Forrest served as director of nurses in the South Pacific and received a Bronze Star. She retired on disability in 1946.

Colonel Forrest was a Minnesota native. She attended Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., and received nursing training at Eitel Hospital in Minneapolis. She had been a Washington resident since the early 1960s.

She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Chevy Chase, Retired Officers Association, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Women’s Overseas Service League.

There are no immediate survivors.

On Friday, July 30, 1999, of Washington, DC. Aunt of Robert B. Forrest, Katherine E. Canton and Margaret E. Hempel. Funeral services will be held at Fort Myer Chapel on Tuesday, August 10, at 11 a.m. Inurnment Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, contributions to All Saints Episcopal Church, 3 Chevy Chase Circle, Chevy Chase, MD 20814.
