Died on October 2, 1997, at Dallas, Texas, formerly of Burke, Virginia.
He graduated, with honors, from the University of Texas, Austin.
Johnny served during the Viet Nam War. He was a U.S. Air Force Senior Command Pilot and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, Air Medal, and three Air Force Commendation Medals.
After his retirement from the USAF, he enjoyed a successful career as a contract director and consultant for national and international transportation authorities.
Johnny is survived by his wife of 30 years, Amelia DeCapua Johnson; one son, Steven L. Johnson of Ashburn, VA; three grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew and Robert. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 1997 at Arlington National Cemetery.
Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
