Charles Lanier Dasher, Jr. (1900-1968)

Born on July 11, 1900 in Savannah, Georgia.

Commissioned in the Field Artillery from West Point in 1924.

With the 11th Field Artillery in Hawaii 1926-1929. Instructor at West Point 1932-1937. Graduated from Command and General Staff School in 1940. Instructor, then Executive Officer at the Field Artillery School October 1940-August 1943. Assistant Artillery Officer with XIX Corps 1943-1944. Commander of 32nd Field Artillery Brigade, then 75th Division Artillery July 1944-July 1945. Brigadier General in March 1945. Artillery Officer with XVIII Corps July-November 1945.

Assignments after the war included Assistant Division Commander of 3rd Division in 1952 and Commanding General of 24th Division 1952-1953 in the Korean War, Deputy Commanding General of Fifth Army 1953-1955 and Commanding General of U.S. Army Caribbean June 1958 until retirement as Major General in August 1960.

Decorations included the Distinguished Service Medal, three Legions of Merit, three Bronze Stars, two Commendation Ribbons and the Purple Heart. Died on October 31. 1968.
