John Edward Kelly was born on 10 July 1911. He served in the United States Army and progressed through the ranks to Lieutenant General. During his service, the General was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Silver Star Medal.
General Kelly died on 2 March 1995 and was buried with full military honors in Section 5 of Arlington National Cemetery.
The General’s son, John Edward Kelly, Jr., Captain, United States Army, a 1967 graduate of the United States Military Academy, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1969. Captain Kelly and his wife are also buried in this gravesite.
