Donald Carl Lundquist was born on November 21, 1930. He was a professional soldier who served in both Korea and Vietnam.
During his career, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, Silver Star, Bronze Star with 2 oak leaf clusters, the Air Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with Pendant and 1 oak leaf cluster and the Purple Heart with 2 oak leaf clusters.
He died on April 17, 1969 and was buried in Section 4 of Arlington National Cemetery.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
