Secretary of the Army
Born at Saginaw, Michigan, June 23, 1894, he received his LL.B degree from the University of Michigan in 1916, J.D. degree, University of Detroit, 1931, PH.D, Hillsdale College, Alma College, 1932.
He married Clara Hantel, August 18, 1923. He was admited to the Michigan Bar in 1919 and was in the private practice of law from 1919 to 1926; prosecuting attorney, Saginaw County, 1922-26; Attorney General of Michigan, 1928-30; governor of Michigan, 1930-32. Member of Clark, Klein, Brucker and Brucker, 1937-54.
General counsel, First Federal Savings and Loan, Detroit, 1952-54; Secretary of the Army, 1955-61; member of the firm Brucker and Brucker, Detroit, 1961-68. Director of the Freuhaul Corporation, First Federal Savings and Loan, U.S. Truck Company, Detroit.
Served with the 33rd Infantry, Michigan National Guard, on the Mexican Border in 1916, and as a First Lieutenant, Rainbow Division, United States Army, in World War I, 1918-19. He was a Republican, a Presbyterian and a Mason (K.T. Most Eminent Grand Master, 33rd Degree).
He lived in Grosse Point, Michigan and died on October 28, 1968. He is buried in Arlington National Cemtery with his wife, Clara Hantel Brucker (December 22, 1892-March 24,1980).

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
