Seeking information on my mother’s cousin who was a Private First Class in the United States Army and killed in France in 1944. My understanding has always been that he was buried at Arlington.
Here is what I know:
- Name: John Kenneth Zahn, Jr
- Rank: PFC, US Army
- DOD: 9/11/44 (France)
- Home: 120 Donaldson Avenue
- Rutherford, New Jersey
Whatever information you might have would be appreciated. If he is buried at Arlington, I would like to visit the gravesite. If not, I would like to find out where he is buried. I have a copy of an article clipped from an unknown paper (I am assuming it is local paper to Rutherford) which has the heading: “PFC J. K. ZAHN JR. TO BE BURIED IN NATIONAL CEMETERY”. My mother and I visited Arlington Cemetery in the late 1960’s and she told me her cousin was buried there; however, because of time and weather, we did not seek the actual gravesite.
Thank you kindly, Marcia A. Macaulay

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history. Many of his articles can be found on renowned portals like the New York Times, Washingtonpost or Wikipedia.
