Charles Speir Lawrence was born in Guyton Georgi.. His parents were David L.Lawrence and Minnie Speir Lawrence. His survivors are a daughter, Herriott Lawrence Holoubek of California, two grandchildren, and a niece, Julia A. Klapper of Iowa City, Iowa.
Colonel Lawrence joined the Army as an enlisted man and made the Army his career for 33 years – serving in both World Wars
Colonel Lawrence was a prisoner of the Japanese for 3 1/2 years during World War II.
His military decoratuions included the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Mexican Border Service Medal, World War I Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, World War II Victory Medal and American Defense of the Pacific.
After retiring from the Army he was Executive Director of the Institute of Food Technologists in Chicago for 12 years. He thenserved for 2 years as the Advisor to the President of the National Florasynth Laboratory in Chicago.
He and his wife then retired to Romney, West Virginia where he lived until his death.

Michael Robert Patterson was born in Arlington and is the son of a former officer of the US Army. So it was no wonder that sooner or later his interests drew him to American history and especially to American military history.
